MCC QIRAT COMPETITION CANCELLED FOR MEC STUDENTS


MCC has sent us a letter cancelling the participation of MEC Sunday school participants in their Qirat competition which was supposed to take place on March 19, 2017. The letter is copied below for your reference and knowledge.

"ASAK WR WB, Further to our telephone conversation, due to issues of fairness of having a pre-screened set of students from MEC Sunday School compete with the general student body at MCC Sunday School, the MCC Sunday School PTO & administration have decided to request you to please not send any students from MEC Sunday School to the internal competition at our Elston Avenue facility next Sunday, March 19th.MCC Sunday School sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience resulting from this.

MEC Internal Qirat Competition


InshaAllah, our annual Internal Qirat Competition will be held on the Sunday of March 5th, 2017.

Our Naziarh/Tajweed teachers are already in the process of selecting top 5 students from each class for the competition. Parents PLEASE prepare your child(ren) well for the competition.

ANNUAL SEERAH PROGRAM


Our School will have its Annual Seerah Program on Sunday, December 4, 2016, inshaAllah!

The theme of the program is From Prophethood to Hija. The following topics will be covered: * Wahee * First Muslims * Migration to Habasha * Year of Sorrow * Journey to Taif * Isra wal Mi'iraj * Hija

Additionally, the students will also take part in Speeches, Nasheeds, and Skits highlighting the personality and the messages of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), inshaAllah! You are cordially invited to participate and encourage students to ensure that the program is a resounding success, inshaAllah!


OPEN HOUSE: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2016


InshaAllah, MEC Sunday School's Open House will be this Sunday, October 16, 2016, after the Assembly.

Each head of department will summarize and display their curriculum (grades 1-10), the book list, the school calendar, the timetable - and respond to any of the questions or comments from the parents. Afterwards, the parents will also have the option of visiting the class rooms as observers. We look forward to meeting with all parents.

Registration: Sunday, August 28, 2016 between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM, at MEC, Morton Grove, inshaAllah!

First Day of School: Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 10:00 AM and 2:10 PM

Typical School Year:
> 1st Sunday following Labor Day weekend in September through 2nd Sunday of June.
> Closed during summer.

Timings:
10 am through 2:10 pm (including mandatory congregation Zuhr salaah) on Sundays.

Grades:
1st through 10th. A typical 1st grader is at least five years of age at the start of the school year, and a typical 10th grader is approximately 15 years of age at graduation.

Location:
8601 Menard Ave, Morton Grove, IL 60053.

Subjects Taught:

  • Nazirah/Tajweed (reading of the Qur’an).
  • Qur’an & Arabic Language (Surah & Du’a memorization along with meaning, and introductory Arabic Language)
  • Seerah/History of the Prophets (with emphasis on Prophet Muhammad SAS), and other Islamic history (including history of Khulafa-e-Rashidun, Abbasids, Umayyads and Ottomans).
  • Theology (Imaan, Ibadaat & Akhlaaq; i.e. Islamic beliefs and practices).

Special Events during the School Year:

  • Qirat Competition.
  • Surah Competition.
  • Seerat-un-Nabi Celebration.
  • End of the year Annual School Day (Students’ recognition, Academic Achievement Awards and Graduation Ceremony).
